Our Babies are Always With Us

Anyone could tell you that anyway, but apparently there is now scientific proof.  It makes me feel really good to know there are literally tiny bits of my babies in me, not just in spirit.  Check it out:

Faces of Loss, Faces of Hope (GREAT website btw) shared this on Facebook:
“During pregnancy, cells sneak across the placenta. The fetus’s cells enter the mother and the mother’s cells enter the baby –and stay there for life. In mothers, fetal cells often take residence in her lungs, spinal cord, skin, thyroid gland, liver, intestine, cervix, gallbladder, spleen, lymph nodes, and blood vessels. The baby’s cells may also live a lifetime in Mom’s heart and brain. Implicated in health and disease, fetal cells may also behind some of the mind-shifts that happen in motherhood.”

And here’s the NPR interview: http://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=5195551

When I read this post the other day it had me crying so hard. You feel such loss when they are gone including a large part of yourself. So this was an amazing thought to have and knowledge to gain. Thank you so much for sharing it.
